dBSonic PSY

Audible differences between sound signals can be quantified!
Measurement methods in dBSonic PSY provide the Psychoacoustic metrics analysis such as: loudness, sharpness, roughness, fluctuation strength:

  • Loudness
  • Sharpness
  • Fluctuation Strength
  • Roughness

Sharpness, loudness spectrum, roughness spectrum and fluctuation strength spectrum are the fundamental parameters for the calculation of annoyance or sound quality.

dBSonic FX

dBSonic FX module is used for extended frequency analysis. It enables:

  • modulation analysis vs. time and vs. bands,
  • Selection and display Faccording to constant, octave, third-octave or Bark band
  • Wavelet analysis

dBSonic PX

The dBSonic PerceptualXporer is a powerful tool for visual exploration, editing and resynthesis of auditory representations. With its auditory models, complicated relationships between physical quantities and perceptual quantities can be visualised ("See what you hear"). With the Spectral Editor the displayed results can be intuitively edited "millisecond by millisecond" or "Hertz by Hertz".

  • Functions available in the PX module :
  • Editing and resynthesis of sound and noise signals,
  • Auditory spectrograms (ASP),
  • Time & Frequency Contour Extraction,
  • Track detection
  • Resynthesis of the audio signal from contours, tracks and ASP

dBSonic ED

  • cut, copy, paste, delete
  • change level, fade, trim
  • sample rate conversion
  • sound calibration

Several adjustable parametric filters as well as highpass, lowpass and bandpass filters can be applied.
For play back of artificial head recordings appropriate equalization filters, such as diffuse field, free field, and others, are available. The audio output can be calibrated in order to achieve hearing-based play back volume.
If a sound signal does contain RPM information this is considered during the processing. The RPM information is not destroyed!

dBSonic RPM

The RPM module is usefull for applications where rotative machines are involved. For instance, analysis of car engines may be simplified by the use of the the RPM module of dBSonic. The functions available in the RPM module are:

  • Analysis (FFT, third-octave, ASP, tracks.) versus RPM and orders,
  • Multi-RPM displays for fast and effective comparisons of orders from different recordings,
  • Automatic recognition of a Tacho signal in the LSB (16th Bit) of a recording,
  • Post processing of Tacho signal (smoothing, adjustment of pre scaling),
  • Extraction of RPM from a FFT sonogram.

dBSonic DOC

The DOC module of dBSonic enables to automatically create your measurement report in a easy and intuitive way. The report is provided in a word format. It also enables to superimposed spectra or temporal analysis for fast and effective comparisons. Additionally, percentile analysis is possible as well as exportation of data in Excel.

dBSonic DIF

The DIF module of dBSonic will be use for comparison of signals. It can be applied to all spectrogram analyses and a mean function display is available.
